***Native Hunter*** entered Early Access on Jul 26, 2023\.

After that it logged:
15 updates in 2023
4 updates in 2024
0 updates in 2025, **though the game was pushed to 1.0 on 12/21/2025**

In March of 2026 it posted a small update, followed by a post in June to display a new roadmap, plans for the future, and a 'new way to share community feedback.'

The community did share some feedback on the announcement thread - mainly that they hated the sudden usage of AI for both the roadmap and the announcement photo.

***Duneborn*** was released on 1/28/2026, and the update history is pretty sparse.

I'm unsure why there was a need to keep the communities separate, as plenty of studios publish wildly different games under the same flag.

Each game has it's own Discord. The developer/publisher names are different for each project. But the developer uses the same Discord handle and Steam account for both games. Despite it not being mentioned on the store pages, others have also noticed it's the same developer.

**Individually, none of this shit means much.** If you spend any time in gaming - especially in Early Access - you're used to dry spells, disappearances, and the like. But when you view it as a timeline, it kinda makes you go..

It would be irresponsible of me not to speculate that the growing reliance on AI for coding, marketing, and all the other work involved in making a game could encourage more developers to bite off more than they can chew. Fuck, we've seen it in real time with the current Steam Next Fest: an ocean of 7,000+ titles, many of which are... rough AF.

> **Also, to be clear, I'm not claiming that's what's happening here, before any pitchforks appear on the horizon.**

We've already spent years dealing with asset flips and scummy developers who show up, take people's money, and disappear. Making a game easier to produce doesn't necessarily make it easier to finish, maintain, or support long-term. (Or even make it good.)
