This will be double sized since I missed a week!
SCUM- Update dropped 5/9/2022 not only adds a new type of plane, a double wide hanger door for your base building, and…trench foot.
Last Oasis– The developers for LO have held steady on pushing out these blogs detailing the changes underway with their LOverhaul. However. It hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows. While the plans for siege weapon redesign went down relatively smooth, their post on the proposed changes to the Walker building system ended up getting locked because of a ton of vitriol/asshole comments. This led to a second post on the topic which broke down their vision for the game/reasoning behind the changes, which was praised for transparency & communication, though feedback was still mixed. (This entire episode is kinda funny because people like to assume, when super MOUTHY BELLIGERENT PEOPLE ARE SHOUTING AND BEING DRAMATIC, that it’s because this is the uniform & overwhelming opinion on the change/idea/whatever. The developer actually included a poll on the second post allowing folks to weigh in on what style of change they would prefer and the CAPS BRIGADES preference of basically “do whatever wherever” on the Walker is currently at 6th place with 10%.)
Jaws of Extinction– Latest patch to the staging branch of the game targets optimizations again as well as a new tutorial area. It also addresses some changes to the electrical system, which was first announced in this post here– where they also announced the plan to swap over to Unreal Engine 5.
Forever Skies– I’m not typically into very sci-fi/high tech looking stuff, but these gifs of the tools available in game are pretty neat.
Above Snakes– The developer is ahead of schedule and announced that the game will be moving from Pre-Alpha to Alpha! Honestly this is great news because the Alpha is going to have so.much.cool.shit. (Seriously, just click the link, there’s so much to show.)
The Day Before– Posted an announcement…that basically says they’re swapping to UE5 and won’t release till March of 2023. There.I saved you a click.
The Planet Crafter– A new update is in the works and will focus on map expansion and quality of life improvements. Sneak peek!
Far North– The developers have released their third DevBlog, covering work in progress and some adorable screenshots.
The Long Dark– The April developer diary posted at the end of the month was CRAZY MINDBLOWING. Be sure to read their full post but in a nutshell: Raph will be stepping down as project lead for TLD and will instead be working on Hinterlands next IP. TLD survival mode will basically be shifting into a “season pass ish” paid content setup moving forward.
Remnants- Dropped a patch with a ton of changes/bug fixes and announced the future shift to Unreal Engine 5.
Starsand- A small patch with some fixes, some new stuff for building, and also BEETLES. They also dropped this other post the week before the beetles with an updated roadmap.
Lens Island- Posted their very first blog post at the end of April. These blog posts are their attempt to consolidate the info they drip out in various places – Discord, Steam, etc- and a way to keep folks up to date. Here’s the first post!
