Changelog
- 3/12/23- After another huge block of silence, the developer, Vecube Studio, finally posted an update on the game’s status to their Facebook page. The last post to that page was back in June of 2021. It was… nothing special. Basically that they’re alive, they were quiet because they were working, they hired new folks, and they changed a bunch of shit, including adding a third-person view. They claimed the additional folks would help them work on multiple projects simultaneously, which is weird because that was the point of the cooperation agreement they signed in May of 2021 with the other studios. So is this even more people? Is everything still reliant on the other title, Puppet House, which now has a release date of Q3 2023?
It was a post about nothing much except a sign of life. I’ll continue to monitor and update this page as they share information – if they reveal concrete information, I’ll upgrade it to a regular directory page.
Everything below is from 2020- the end of Feb 2023.
For a while, the game developer maintained multiple social media accounts.
Vecube Studio Instagram; last post on Feb 15, 2021
Vecube Studio YouTube, last & only post on Nov 10th, 2019
Vecube Studio Twitter, last post on Nov 23, 2019
Vecube Studio Facebook, last post on June 1, 2021
Wild Side The Game Facebook, last post on June 1, 2021
In May 2021, Vecube shared a video of a PC gaming rig unboxing & setup. The text for the video explained that Vecube Studio had “signed a cooperation agreement with Golden Egg Studio Studio and Glob Games Studio. As agreed, they will create and publish four games together: Wild Side, Puppet House, Adventures of Wubin, and Quest. To this end, they also opened a new studio dedicated to their production. More information coming soon.”
After the videos posted in 2021, the collab in May, and the newest trailer in June, everything about the game and Vecube studio went utterly silent. They stopped responding to questions and posts on all social media platforms, there have been no signs of progress, and no listing for Wild Side – or any of their other intended games- has surfaced on Steam.
Glob Games Studio has posted intermittently to social media, maybe once or twice a month, and hasn’t posted since December 2022. I see no mention of Wild Side when parsing their recent posts.
As for Golden Egg Studio, they haven’t posted to their YouTube in roughly nine months, though they did include a seconds-long clip of Wild Side in a trailer video for their slate of games. They showed a graphic of the game art & logo on a video from May 24, 2022, but never went into detail on the game- though they covered other games on their proposed roadmap for at least a minute. If you peep at their Instagram, many of their posts about upcoming games or plans include links & pleas to invest in the studio. So I’m wondering if funding derailed progress.
I contacted a Poland-based colleague to see if she could scour some of the local news & gaming resources for me- perhaps dig up information that hadn’t made it internationally yet. She found nothing new, though she did note that their Patronite fundraising page raised zero dollars. She parsed this 9-month-old video from Golden Eggs Studio for me and explained that Golden Eggs Studio (GES) mentioned they would begin work on Wild Side after finishing Puppet House. Puppet House also doesn’t appear to have a Steam page, and it’s hard to dig up much information. Weirdly, it has this unlisted trailer posted directly by GES, and it won an award for …best…PC game?? So if it’s done, does that mean Wild Side will be worked on soon? Who the fuck knows.
To be charitable, we can assume that development has been shuttered or gone underground as they cooperate to fulfill the development agreement between the three studios. I don’t get going dead on community engagement, though; maybe so they can burst free like a phoenix from the ashes and surprise us all? That would be nice.
