Let's rewind to the start of Oct.

🔮 Upcoming Game News
- The Legend of California
Bills itself as a "... multiplayer, action-survival FPS" and, while I didn't get into the last playtest I HAVE watched the trailers/videos and read the interviews. Really just comes across as another RDR2 but with less world building - or an Overwatch with cowboy hats. Anyway! There's a livestream scheduled for October 17th. - Frostrail
Kinda a similar situation to The Legend of California, though it it kinda resembles Voidtrain in more than a few ways. Demo launches October 19th. - Under Canopies
If cozy outdoor living is your thing -or if you ALSO feel screwed by the way Among Trees was handled - check this out when it launches into Early Access on October 23rd. - ATMOSFAR
Enters Early Access on October 29th - creators, pop into their Discord to lobby for their fledgling content creator program.

🫢 Thinking Out Loud
Yanno, I never really got the point of Human Host. I checked out the Steam store page, I watched - and dissected - the trailer. I saw the same run-n'-gun zombie copy pasta that we see every three seconds - filled with predictable amounts of jank, to boot. (This, btw, was heavily illustrated near the end of the trailer where they whip out the blocky tank with lasers and do laser things.) But I had completely forgotten (and underestimated) that a hefty chunk of the 7D2d audience is completely disenchanted with 7D2D - and how susceptible they are to being steered by the prominent creators in that sphere.

#️⃣ Hashtag Specific Updates
So unless you are 1000% against Discord (and I'm not saying that IS or ISN'T a good stance when it comes to social media platforms) - I'd like to once again drop a brief pitch on joining us in the Hashtag Discord. It's a good hangout for lurkers who want info day of (little flexibility in the 'day of' thing, because life - but pretty close!) dropped into a handful of feeds, perfect for browsing.

💥 Quick Shots
- Woof, I haven't checked on Fargone in ages - new video devlog looks great so I'll have to make time to pop in!
- Mist Survival is still crawling along and updating their experimental branch.
- Establish permanent settlements anywhere across the world of Neolithic Dawn with their Hearthfire Update.
- The developer of KeepUp Survival seems to be reworking...everything? I think I'll wait for the dust to settle before checking it out. (Yet again.)

🫢 Thinking Out Loud
So first I came across this article on Gamesindustry.biz, about the UK publisher Fireshine Games.

But what really caught my eye (and the bold emphasis is mine) was:
In an announcement post on Steam, Fair Games said Fireshine "will be helping out with a lot of the larger time-consuming tasks such as publishing and porting."
"We'll still be leading the game direction for Necesse and its upcoming updates," it continued. "We'll of course be brainstorming ideas and feedback with Fireshine, as their vast experience in the survival/crafting genre is an amazing resource to have."
This is 100% free ballin', but what is their vast experience in the survival genre?

It would be friggin awesome if there was some other nifty descriptive title for some games. Because someone coming from Green Hell, Stranded Deep, The Long Dark...bit of a rude awakening to get these suggested, and especially vice versa. Woof.

🕸️ Around the Web
- Did Microsoft see the big "we hate Sony because of the upcoming disc-pocalypse" and genuinely think to themselves, "hey, hold my beer!"
(Patent 1) (Patent 2) - Hey, this "best survival game" list is almost not bad at all??
(CBR) - Never too early (or late) to remind everyone that Meta is full of garbage.
(Engadget) - Google and Unity recently announced gen-AI game-making platforms and the articles (from the non ass-kissing publications) are so delightfully full of snark. Definitely read the one from Eurogamer - Aftermath has a great take as well.

Alrighty, I'll wrap this up here - I didn't hit the titles I REALLY wanted to go over, but I want to (maybe) fuss with formatting a bit before I do. Till next time!
