🔮 Upcoming Game News
- Blind Descent
The co-op playtest for the Mars based subterranean game is now live - complete with FAQ. The last time I jumped into a playtest for the game was...2023? 2024? Way before their long break/snagging a publisher. Fingers crossed that our schedules work out, but Dee and I hope to hop into the playtest on a livestream sometime soon. (The game hits Early Access on December 2, 2026.) - Online: 404
Early Access release was delayed due to some Steam related BS. - ATMOSFAR
Dropped Horizon Burns, a new Early Access Prologue Trailer. - The Signal: Stranded on Sirenis
Will hit Early Access on February 4, 2027! Also, the demo has been retired. - Frostpunk 1886
Join Maciej Sułecki, Game Director of Frostpunk 1886, for a live Q&A on Discord on November 5th. - The Apocalypse
First I want to point out that I'm still iffy on the role of vehicles in a true "all sorts of shit has hit all sorts of rotary devices" situation, but I'll leave that for an actual article. This latest dev note is interesting because it really sounds like they're striving for player choice and customization, since everyone's version of survival is different. Also +1 for allowing towing? I feel like that aspect is often forgotten. - Dandelion Void
After ages and ages of dev logs and teaser images, it's time to get hands on with the new demo! (Maybe I'll try and livestream this?)

🎩 Deals and Drops
- Play Stranded Deep for free until Oct 19 @ 1:00pm! (It's also on sale until October 22.)
- Bohemia just dropped the latest DayZ DLC, Badlands, taking things to the desert. Reviews are sitting at Mixed for now, so check out our post (linked in the Hashtag section below) as Dee and I hash out our thoughts based on what we know so far! (Plus complain/dish on Frostline.)

#️⃣ Hashtag Specific Updates
Right now I've got three tiny little goals in my palm:
- hit 500 Curator reviews (done!)
- get 200 peeps in the Hashtag Discord (we're at 192)
- hit 700 Curator followers (we're at 679)
These seem doable before January 1st, right? (Okay, not hitting the Discord one would kinda sting because we're SO CLOSE, but also we've been stuck there for a bit. Damn bots and compromised accounts.)

📝 Tidbits
My personal tinfoil hat theory for Territory (this is obviously VERY SARCASTIC JOKING), but it almost feels like he intentionally upgrades the engine every so often so that I can't quite get away with calling it abandoned. Gameplay wise, a low effort attempt to cram Subsistence into DayZ, the game had little direction, terrible animations, and a blinding array of bugs & issues.
(Btw I love this recent review coupled with the PRODUCT REFUNDED.)

When I first came across the Lysward trailer, I slotted it into the: Valheimers, fans of Conan Exiles and Astrobotanica crowd. No hate - games need to come in all types. And while I can't say no judgement (since I do kinda side-eye judge all of these games slapping on the survival tag for eyeballs when they'd do better elsewhere), it's all whatever in the end. But then I read one of their recent Steam News posts and saw:

My FIRST thought was, "I hope they didn't just over-tune food/water depreciation like EVERY game that really shouldn't emphasize food/water at all!" Clicked through to the forums annddd

Behold, another meter-humper is born.
